Tech Employer of the year Award
We’re really pleased to share that HBTech has been named a South Coast Tech and Innovation Awards Finalist for Tech Employer of the Year. It’s lovely recognition for the team, and for the way they look after clients and each other every day.
For us, this nomination matters because HBTech has always been built around good people doing good work: helping clients, supporting each other, learning as we go and taking pride in getting things right.
As a Hampshire-based IT support and telecommunications provider, our job is simple: to make IT support and technology feel easier for the organisations we support. That means having the right technical knowledge, but it also means listening properly, explaining things clearly and taking ownership when something needs fixing.
Building a workplace where people can do their best work
HBTech has grown from a team of three in 2015 to 19 employees in 2026, alongside our specialist HBTel team. We’ve changed a lot in that time, but we’ve worked hard not to lose the friendly, supportive feel that made the business what it was in the early days.
Our values are Customer-centric, Driven by learning and Human-centred. They influence how we support a client with an urgent problem, welcome a new colleague, solve a complex technical challenge and improve the way our business works.
We want people to feel trusted to make decisions, encouraged to contribute ideas and supported when they want to develop. This includes regular development reviews, mentoring, time for training during the working week and support for relevant technical qualifications.
Our Director-level Head of Amazing role brings recruitment, onboarding, development, engagement, wellbeing and culture together. It is a practical commitment to making sure our people are actively championed as HBTech continues to grow. As Carol Evans, Head of Amazing, says: “Our people are at the heart of HBTech. My role is about making sure they feel supported, listened to and able to do their best work, because when our team thrives, our clients feel that too.”
Why our culture matters to clients
Being a good employer and providing excellent IT support are not separate ambitions. The two are closely connected.
When people have the skills, support and confidence to make good decisions, clients feel the benefit. They get a team that responds quickly, explains things clearly and understands that an IT issue is rarely just an IT issue. If someone can’t work properly, it becomes stressful and disruptive fast, so resolving it is about helping them get back to their day as smoothly as possible.
For clients, that means practical, responsive business IT support from people who understand how disruptive technology issues can be.
John Clough, HBTech’s founder and Commercial Director, says: “The quality of our service comes down to the quality of our people.”
This connection is reflected in the feedback we receive. HBTech now has more than 160 five-star Google reviews and Trustpilot reviews, and clients regularly describe the team as friendly, responsive, professional and an extension of their own organisation.

Recognition for the whole HBTech team
Reaching the final as a South Coast Tech and Innovation Awards Finalist is recognition for everyone at HBTech. Our people’s commitment to clients, support for one another and willingness to keep learning have made the business what it is today.
The award recognises HBTech as one of the South Coast technology employers building a supportive, people-focused workplace. We are proud to be shortlisted alongside other excellent technology businesses from across the South Coast.
Whatever the result on the night, being named a finalist is an achievement we are pleased to share with our team, clients, partners and wider community.
Wish us luck!
